Provide Constituent Oversight

Not sure what to write to your elected official? Below are sample messages you can send to introduce yourself and remind them that as a constituent, you will be keeping track of their voting record. Fill in the blanks and to make it your own.

To make it count, include your name and mailing address on all postcards to your elected officials. 


Constituent Mail: Introduction

Best for: Establishing a baseline relationship with a local, state, or federal representative.

[Title] [Last Name], My name is [first and last name]. As one of your constituents, I want you to know that I care deeply about [name issue you care about most] and will be following your voting record. Thank you for your public service. Warmly, [Your Name]

Constituent Mail: Oversight

Best for: Reminding representatives of public service integrity and accountability.

[Title] [Last Name], As a constituent, I’m writing to remind you that you answer directly to your neighbors back home. Public service requires transparency, accountability, and neighborly standards. I am keeping a close eye on your voting record and committee actions, and expect our leaders to serve with integrity. I will be exercising my oversight at the ballot box.
